Every garden design begins with a face-to-face consultation and site visit. This is our chance to get to know you and your space, discussing how you want to use your garden, your stylistic preferences, and any practical needs. From this, we develop a tailored client brief that outlines the vision and key requirements for the project.
This stage lays the groundwork for the design. It typically involves a detailed site visit to assess existing conditions such as levels, structures, vegetation, and soil. For accuracy, particularly on complex or larger plots, we often commission a topographic survey to ensure we have precise measurements and a complete understanding of the site’s context.
Guided by the client brief and site analysis, we begin developing initial design ideas. These are presented as a concept plan along with visual aids such as mood boards, material palettes, and 3D models or sketches, to help you clearly imagine the potential of your new garden.
Once we’ve refined the design based on your feedback, we produce a detailed landscape masterplan. This drawing captures the agreed layout, structure, and key features of the garden and forms the basis for all future work on the project.
We then move into the detailed design phase, where every element is specified and drawn up. This includes construction details for paving, steps, walls, and bespoke features, alongside comprehensive planting plans, plant schedules, and tree selections. At this stage, we may also liaise with other professionals such as architects, engineers, or planners where necessary.
We can recommend trusted landscape contractors from our professional network to carry out the build. We help manage the quotation process—either with a preferred contractor or through a selective tender involving two or more vetted contractors—to ensure clarity, value, and quality.
Once construction begins, we stay involved—making regular site visits to monitor progress, answer questions, and ensure the build is faithful to the design. We’re also closely involved during the planting stage to make sure all plants are of excellent quality and installed with care.
Gardens evolve with time and require thoughtful care. As part of our service, we provide guidance on maintenance, seasonal tasks, and how to keep your garden thriving long after completion. We’re also available for follow-up visits or to advise on future enhancements as your garden matures.
